Zeta Beta Tau - A Powerhouse of Excellence

Zeta Beta Tau - Chapters of Excellence: Academics

In order to achieve the maximum number of points in this category the Chapter must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or the campus average; whichever is greater.

If recognized by the campus, your Greek Advisor should be able to calculate this information for you. If not recognized, simply obtain the grade point averages from each of your brothers (cumulative), add them up, and then divide by the number of brothers in the Chapter.

Best Practices to Excel

  1. Obtain and utilize a Faculty Advisor.
  2. Enforce the national standard of a 2.5 minimum grade point average. If brothers fall below that, have a probationary status in effect that will monitor progress with an expected timeline to achieve the required grades.
  3. Monitor academic progress via an appointed Scholarship Chairman for the Chapter.
  4. Include study hours as part of your programming calendar.
  5. Have a rewards system in place for brothers with outstanding academic achievement. Examples can include discount on dues, opportunity to attend national meeting, house points.
  6. Locate the campus Learning/Tutoring/Academic center and invite a staff member to talk about the resources provided.
  7. Encourage brothers to study together.
  8. Reward attendance at study hour events.
  9. Invite professors and university staff over to Chapter meetings/dinner as speakers.
  10. Encourage Big Brothers to monitor their Little Brother's academic performance
  11. Hire tutors to assist brothers.

This information should be sent in at the completion of EACH quarter/semester:

  • A grade report for all brothers (can be sent in by the Greek Advisor)
  • If available, please include the All-Greek grade report as well.
