This is an educational fund established by Ronald J. Taylor, M.D. effective on June 1, 2001.
Ron is a retired psychiatrist living in Baltimore, MD. He graduated from Washington & Jefferson College (Iota Phi Alpha Chapter) in 1966. He is extremely active in Maryland with many social, political, educational, and cultural organizations and serves on many boards of directors. He is also an advocate for tolerance and diversity. Ron attributes much of his original knowledge of non-profit organizations to his ZBT experiences including his time while an undergraduate.
Ron is a past National President of the Fraternity (1998-2002) and had been active in ZBT for many years prior, following his initiation into ZBT in November, 1963. He has held many national positions in ZBT and been a Chapter Advisor to many Chapters. He is a recipient (1992) of the North-American Interfraternity Council’s Silver Medal for his work with the NIC in the area of values and ethics. He was awarded the Tau Kappa Epsilon Salsbury-Scott Interfraternity Award in 1993 for his work in advocating anti-hazing programs through the cessation of pledging. Also, in regard to that work, he made many appearances on national television and radio. He was very involved with the Centennial publication of the Fraternity’s history (Here’s to Our Fraternity) in 1998. In 1993, he was awarded ZBT’s Edwin N. Sommer Award – an award that is presented from time-to-time to a ZBT alumnus for “selfless dedication to the ideals of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity.”
The earnings of the fund may be used for any IRS authorized purpose as decided by the Foundation Board of Directors. The Director’s may confer with Ron as to his wishes.
