WHEREAS, Our founders’ belief in the Brotherhood of all humankind has resulted in innumerable benefits accruing to Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, often from our membership in the family of interfraternity organizations, we have rightly honored interfraternity leaders with the periodic bestowal of our Riegelman/Jacobs Award and other citations, and
WHEREAS, Howard R. Alter Jr., recipient of the Riegelman/Jacobs Award, a national president and later executive director of Theta Chi Fraternity, past president of the Fraternity Executives Association and National Interfraternity Conference Gold Medal recipient; continually befriended ZBT with good counsel and fraternal regard, supporting us with his witness in difficult times and his commendation in times of achievement and who over long years provided ZBT and all who walked his way with an example of fraternal friendship, of unconditional mentoring and of a righteous man, and
WHEREAS, Providence has seen fit to call interfraternity brother, Howard, to the Chapter Eternal,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that, The Supreme Council of ZBT on its own behalf and on behalf of the Fraternity at large mourns the passing of Howard R. Alter Jr., Pennsylvania State University, and Theta Chi Fraternity. We share with his family and all who loved him, the sense of loss occasioned by the passing of a true and loyal brother.
