ZBT Interest Groups By Colony Consultant David K. Lerner, Gamma Lambda (Hartford) '11 For those brothers attending this summer’s 99th Annual Convention and Leadership School, you will have the opportunity to meet some of ZBT’s future brothers. In attendance will be men from interest groups at Franklin & Marshall College, Hobart and William Smith College, and Johns Hopkins University. These men have come together at their respective universities to rally groups of 15-25 interested men for the single cause of bringing the ZBT experience to their campus. These men have participated in philanthropies, held group meetings, been active in Hillel, attended Presidents Academy as well as Regional Conclave among others. Their work ethic, drive and determination rival that of our top chapters. Each group also has begun the hard work of collaborating with University administration and local IFCs to garner campus recognition. For instance, the men at Franklin & Marshall created a 30 plus page document on why ZBT should be accepted back on campus and what they will do to ensure lasting success. These men reached out to hundreds of Alumni, contacted undergraduates in the Northeast, and raised their group’s cumulative GPA to an impressive 3.40. Their dedication to the expansion process has been on-going since June 2011. These men have grown together and hope to see the culmination of this process in the near future. At Hobart and William Smith, a few men contacted the International Office late in Fall 2011. Since then, the men have worked diligently to illustrate to the campus who they are and what the addition of ZBT would mean to Hobart. They have given impressive presentations to campus leaders as well. Because of their dedication, the Hobart and William Smith interest group will become a ZBT colony in the Fall! And lastly, the men of Johns Hopkins University. This group was pointed in our direction from fellow alumni. These men began the process this past semester and have been working hard on growing the group and preparing for expansion conversations with key leaders in the Greek community. ZBT’s interest groups have remained eager to learn and improve. Their work ethic has been bar none in an effort to show that they belong as a “Zeeb.” They can’t wait to meet you during Convention! See you in Chicago! |
